Budehaven Community School, Bude, Cornwall
Out of the ashes... a severe fire had destroyed much of the older buildings at Budehaven Community School, but the multi-million pound rebuilding programme that followed not only replaced facilities lost during the fire, but also added much needed extra space as well.
A new entrance was created on the Stratton Road side of the site, and is now the designated main entrance for pupils, with its own reception office. The main entrance for parents and visitors remains at the Valley Road side of the site. The severely smoke and water damaged Art Room has been transformed into a design department teaching workshop. This move not only improved the layout of the design rooms, but has also meant that the design room adjacent to the music suite is now a music room to replace the one lost in the fire. The nursery too, virtually destroyed in the fire, is now housed in its own building, adjacent to the all-weather pitch.
